I have an oil leak under the valley pan on the center of the motor. Part of the cover is rotted so I can see something moving while the motor is running. The oil is coming out around whatever is moving. What is this leaking oil and how to fix it?
What you see moving would be either the lifters or push rods.
What engine?
If it is a NA motor, replacing the valley pan would not be that hard.
IP removed, intake manifold removed and you would then be able to remove the valley pan.
Truck has been in Texas since it was new. Has 142000 miles. I bought it from the original owner in November of last year. Got a new intake manifold gasket set at our local NAPA. In the installation it says that there is a tightening sequence for the bolts. What is this sequence?
I have to wander if someone washed it with something caustic and didn't get it all washed off at some time or other, never seen one rust out. I did see a toyota oil pan rust through one time though.
I thought the exposed part of the valley pan was some form of mild stainless steel? Never heard of one rusting out, thats for sure. Better change the oil while you're at it and inspect the top if the motor for any signs of debris or crud falling in there.
I don't suppose you could post a picture? That would be one for the collection.
