Where can I find EXCELLENT step by step instructions, or a magazine article, on how to rebuild an NP 435 and the same for an NP 205

I have read here before that you can go to your public library and get this info. You can also find it in most late 60's to 80's Ford factory shop manuals. I unstand that common shop tools and a block of wood are all that required.

Thank-you for the response. I found a haynes manual that shows the np 205 rebuild, but I can't find anything on the np 435. Any other suggestions.

 

OK, I found both parts used, instructions on both, a NP 435 rebuild kit, but I can't seem to find a kit for the NP 205. Any help?

The Haynes manual has an exploded view of the tranny. Maybe that'll help. X-fer cases are pretty simple. My NP 208 was easy to take apart and put back togeather....Sill waiting on those slow a$$ parts to come in......All I used was the exploded view.

 

For what its worth, before you tear into the tranny, take some of pictures of the innards so you have a reference on how everything goes together. Turn the input shaft, fool around with the syncros a lil bit, moving them back and forth to see which gears the tranny is in. This also gives you a reference on how everything should work once you put it all back together again. As you tear it apart, lay everything out on a bench or table as you take it out so you know exactly in which order everything came out. I am not an expert at rebuilding trannies, but this is the advice that everybody has given me, and it has worked for me.

Let me know how hard it is to rebuild that NP435. I just put in a 25 year old 435 into my '89. When I swap engines this summer, I may rebuild the trans.
