window lift motor

My driver's side window is stuck in the down position. I think it is the window lift motor.
How do I change the motor? I think I have to drill out the rivets and replace them with bolts with the new motor. But, I cannot see the motor so I don't know which rivets to drill. Help please.

Check the manual. You don't drill any rivets, you drill out the dimples so you can access the bolts behind the sheet metal. That's how my '93 is. It's actually a very simple job, I just did mine a few weeks ago. Bought the new motor from rockauto.com. I think the instructions with the motor said how to do it too.

Not sure what year you have but if you need a motor too here's a link to the Aerostar ones on our site.

If motor stucks, the only way is to drill riviets, and push up window to get power lift assembly out. Then, you may unscrew 3 bolts with 8mm socket to remove motor, to take motor appart just unscrew 2 long bolts with 8 mm wrench ore socket. you may have bad brushes, ore motor rotor with worn lamels. well, sometimes protecting thermal switch fails.....

You don't have to drill the rivets out. There are a lot of threads here on how to do it. Just do a search.
