I have a factory cab and chassis 1 ton 4x4 with a flatbed, it's time to put on a new bed and I came across a real nice factory dually bed. My truck has dual tanks and so does the dually bed I'm looking at, will it fit?
your cab-n-chassis frame is 4" narrower than a dually pickup frame. All you have to do is drill 6 new mounting holes on a 4" closer pattern. And make /modify bumper brackest for a narrower frame
I appreciate the info, you also gave me good advice on changing out the auto trans to a ZF! By the way, I picked up the trans and all the parts yesterday, hope to have them installed in the next month or two Thanks, Dave
It is quite simple to put a dually pickup bed on. i hope i didnt scare you.
FWIW the cab-n-chassis rear is narrower than a pickup rear as well. the tires would be tucked under the bed a lil more than normal. But this would be a perfect time for 2" spacers and 285's!!
OK, Thanks! It's easy to see I'm more into chevys, just recently changed brands. Also wanting to put a push bar up front, where's a good place to buy? I tried Summit Racing, but everything was $350.- $500. Dave
hey lugnut I have a fairly decent bed no rust and a dually rear end, I converted a dually to single wheel and from 2 - 4 wd, I live in Indiana matbe could do some kind of trade.
Your Cab and Chassis is gonna have a bit longer wheelbase also.it is only @ a couple inches so you will have a slighly larger gap between the cab and the bed.
You know you can buy the dually fenders, cut out your original bed, and install them for the dually set-up! My truck is a dually model, and I am working on replacing the original cracked fenders on it, thats how I came across this!

Factory dually fenders attach totally different than any aftermarket dually conversion fenders.
As for using Original ford or aftermarket dually fenders you need an original dually pickup bed to attach them too
