Hello all. I'm prepping my '72 Camper Special for paint and need to get into the well at the base of the windshield under the wipers. Am I missing something or is the only way in to unbolt everything south of the engine compartment struts? Anyone?
Ready to about mine and see know way of getting paint in there.
Yep... it sure as heck ain't one of Ford's better ideas. Consider our rigs lucky in that Ford located the intake vents on the cowl sides instead of on top. Us early Mustang owners have 'em on top and the intake "hats" are huge and get dammed up with stuff. Ford nary used any seam sealer nor any paint and I know my 65's are bad. Here's what we end up with (not my 65):
Very helpful the photo you posted HIO. I have a couple make do ideas. There is an exasperatingly small port on the firewall where I hope to be able to claw out most of the debris. For the painting I've considered inserting some trimmed cardboard through the vents from one wiper to the other, or, simply letting the paint fall where it may. Last weekend I was driving Dad's 1948 Ford-Furguson tractor and when I popped the hood I had to evict a well established family of mice. From what I can see, I think their cousins lived in my '72.
