How hard is it to wire in fog lights on an 06 XLT. Mine didnt come with them as im sure none did. I was wondering if it was easy to hook the fog lights in to the stock position switch. I was looking at PIAA so if anyone has them or have done them with another brand let me know what was involved and pics are appreciated.
I'm not sure how hard it would be but I have an 06 XLT and it has factory fog lamps. The switch is part of the headlight switch you pull the switch out toward you and when you dial it on they come on when the low beams are on. So you will probably have to use a different toggle or buy a new headlight switch.
When I had my (4x2) '99 Ranger I put the 4x4 OEM foglamps with matching airdam on. I wired in the lights with a relay using my parking lights as a trigger. Then I put in a master switch toward to lower part of my knee panel (below the headlamp sw.).
After inspection I did find the factory off-road light harnesses for the truck against my lower radiator support area. I think it was easier/cheaper on Ford to integrate it at a factory level regardless of what suspension group it had prior to being finished/delivered. These newer F150s maybe the way- I haven't looked for mine yet, but I'm sure its involving a relay in a CJB somewhere to make them operate.
I would look up under the front of the truck and see if the plugs are there, my 03 was pre wired for them all I had to do was change the switch and put in the lights. I'm not sure if the 04 ups are like that but Ford is pretty good for pre wiring any truck that is a xlt or higher set up for options.
