NTB wants $422 to do a front brake job on my 2002 F-150.
They say the rotors have to be replaced they cannot turn them.
It's got 51,000 on it.
This seem high. Any input?
Seems odd with that milage that the rotors need replaced. Were the brakes grinding when you brought it in.? Did they give you a break down on costs. I agree that quote seems a bit high. Never hurts to get a second opinion and estimate.
No, there weren't grinding, I actually went in for two new back tires and they pulled the front tire off to look at the brakes without me knowing it. He said on that model you can't turn the rotors. I'll definitely take it somewhere else.

If the pads still have meat on them and the rotors are not warped or groved from a worn pad,I'd by a little more time from them.
If end up needing rotors and can do the job yourself we carry brake and rotor kits at a resonable price.Just my .02
it's definitely a doable job to do in your own driveway, two bolts that hold the caliper on, take it off replace the pads which are clipped in, then the rotor should pop off and pop back on with little elbow grease.
it killed me when my friend had all 4 of his brakes done, paid 2 or 3 hundred for parts, and then another 2 or 3 hundred for labor. the job takes less than an hour.
