4.6 romeo vs 4.6 windsor
Bear with me , as I'm a noob to this forum. I have a 1997 F-150 4 wheel drive with a 4.6 windsor engine. I need a new engine, (low compression on cyl 4 and 7) The truck has a total 237,000 miles on it. I have access to a 4.6 "romeo" engine out of a 1996 Lincoln Town Car Executive Sedan 4D. If I attempt to put the romeo engine from the '96 Lincoln into the F-150, will I run into any major complications? Thanks in Advance for any help.

Absolutely false. There are far too many differences in Romeo and wondsor engines as well as car/truck and different years. Here is a good link that should give you the info you need:

Hey, Rambaseball, Did your Romeo come out of a car. From what I can find out on this and other forums is that I really should only use a 4.6 Windsor out of a 1997 or 1998 F-150. Different compression ratios, emmisions, etc with a car engine. Also, some differences between the Romeo and the Windsor, (valve covers, etc) A quick question to anyone reading this thread... Would a 4.6 out of a Ford Explorer, (97 or 98) also work. Any help answering these questions would be greatly appreciated. From all the prices that I'm finding at the local yards, It seems like I'd be better off buying a high mileage truck and yanking the engine. If anybody in Ohio (or close by) has a 4.6 Windsor that would be ready to drop into my truck, let me know.
Thanks
