The wheel bearing was gone on on my 9". Took it to a reputable shop for removal and they cut it off w/ a torch. There has t be a better way without using a torch. help! Is it true that yhe sealed bearings will interchange with the ball bearings on 9" axles? Which is better? Thanx
The proper way is by using a press and special tool that slips between the bearing and the axle flange.OTC make it
a torch can overheat the axle, and cause the axle to break by changing the temper in the steel. when you hit a hard pot hole Ive seen axles break just outside the bearing area and the wheel falls off.Not a good thing
Don't know about the sealed bearing ?

I thought they should be pressed- thats why I was shocked when they used a torch. So far so good, if it suddenly gets funky I'll be watching for my wheel to pass me. FINGERS CROSSED.
