ranger sas

hey all, im currently in the rapid development of changing my 2wd 3.0l into a 4wd sas rig. to start this build i plan on doing it in stages starting with trans and working the back with a ford 8.8 axle and then the front with a 1970's ford f150 d44 width axle. and im just going to ask fairly simple question for the average ranger technical enthousiast because i have no experience with 4wd but i can make anything happen lol.

ill start..

my first week on starting the build i plan on starting transmission mods. i will be droping the transmission, dissasembling and removing the 2wd output shaft, and replacing with the 4wd extended shaft. next i will install a 1350 manual t case with no vss sensor for 4x4 low, just the plug thats available to fill the hole, i will not require the service of it for that gear i really only need to know how fast im going in 2wd and 4x4 high, if this makes sense.. when the case and trans are back up and functioning i need to know if the drive shaft is different on the 4x4 ranger or if i can connect my 2wd shaft to the case in the meanwhile to be driven until i attack the suspension, is there a crossmember for the t case on the 4x4 or does it just hang off the trans case? and is it healthy to drive with the case unloaded in the front without a drive shaft? because i wont have started any fab work yet to get all my links made for the 1970's f150 d44 front suspension. but as i plan it out in my head so far this all seems like a good way to start this project.
