i installed my diesel site chip today and didnt have the best outcome. 1st problem is that when i switch thru the positions the engine dies off sometimes; usually while setting it back to a lower hp setting? when the engine dies i doesnt always start back and i have to disconect the batteries and then start it back up. 2nd is that when i put it on high idle the wait to start light comes on(engine is running), is this normal?
last problem doesnt have to do with the chip; its just that my truck doesnt have to good of a throttle response and hoped the chip would help but its not so much. what happens is that when i get on the skinny pedal pretty hard for a take off she tries to take off but then looses power suddenly. truck keeps going just not strong enough, but if i ease on the pedal so she can get going and the punch it the truck runs strong. what could cause this? this happens with or without the chip.
look at your intake coming off your turbo and there will be a black hose running up to a little box unplug the electrical connection take it for a drive if it drives the same then your map sensor is shot and if its shot your truck wont hardly make any power
no codes are being register when the truck dies.
what does the map sensor do and how common is it that they go out? i ask cause i checked some prices and they
arent so cheap.
i unplugged the map sensor and it runs the same, only difference is that cel comes on when sensor is desconnected.
MAP sensor is OK then. If you unplug it and it runs much better then it could be a bad MAP or clogged hose. Problem is elsewhere so don't waste your money on a new MAP.
And it purpose is detecting boost. Its output to the PCM is a varying frequency. The higher the intake boost the higher the frequency. PCM uses this to determine fuel.delivery.
well when i have my chip on extreme which is 140, i can throw a nice cloud at idol, on the road its an ok stream, i deff wouldnt say it rolls coal, sticks will roll coal but youd need a tranny in the next year after that hah
Im not sure about the effects of the chip, but as for the power issue with the sluggy pedal have you checked your fuel filter and more specifically the FPR screen. If that screen is plugged up it will really mess w/ your power, and pedal response time. Have you checked your fuel pressure either. If thats too low the power will be real low. Might concider shimming your FPR if you havent already. You dont have a signature to tell us much about what youve got. Just throwing ideas out here.
i went to the junk yard yesterday and bought me a used map sensor for 10 bucks and put it on the truck and it actually did help. i'm thinking that the sensor was messed up and would bog the truck down. truck takes off really good now and the turbo spools up alot better. thanks for the help guys.
