im sure this has been covered 1000 times but here it goes anyway. im pretty sure my case motor is bad...go figure. im also too lazy to rebuild it so please dont suggest that. anyhow, would it be possible to put the linkage from a manual BW1354 on it? all the electrical connections still work? will the hubs lock in (dont have lockouts yet)? should i just suck it up and get the new (reman'd) motor? Are there any conversions out on the market for such a thing? thanks for any help you may provide.
Nope, it won't work that way, unless you swap in the entire manual shift t-case.
The auto hubs would still work (they are purely mechanical and operate independently of the t-case).
You can manually shift the t-case if you remove the motor and grab the shaft with a pair of pliers. I've heard of a few people hypothesize some kind of cable set up that would wrap around the shaft which you could then rotate from inside. Never heard of anything concrete put together. Where you don't feel like rebuilding the shift motor, I doubt you would feel up to developing some kind of manual shift mechanism.
Gut feel: either rebuild the shift motor or buy a new one.
