Ford fixed both of my 05 super duties for the death wobble. They replace the steering stableizer and remount in new position. It also takes new shimes for the caster or camber. They do not mess with shocks as they are not the problem. On the king ranch 350 they also replaced the steering wheel for no aperant reason at all. All 05 to 07 SD trucks are prone to the death wobble and it usually starts around 20 to 40 k miles and some times even sooner. All of these trucks have the same design flaw but ford is to tight to recall as it is not a cheap fix. Ford custermer service is next to nothing and it would be a blessing if they went broke and down the tubes with the rest of the crooks.
Sorry, yes more info would help.
I was so worked up when I typed, I left that out.
It's a 2006 F250 SC SB 4x4 5.4 Auto.
27,000 miles
Everything is stock.
Also, how do you add a signature, haven't been able to yet.
if its under warrenty ford will fix for free. If warenty is out u may be screwed. This is so terrifing and dangerous all these trucks should be grounded until ford fixes them or they go to the junk yard where they belong.

Reason: Removed dead white space - PLEASE STOP.
I didn't do enough research before I bought.
Ford changed to coils in the front in 05, this is when the problem started??
You hit the nail on the head there.
I have an 04' with leaf springs all around. I currently have no steering stabilizer, 5 years running no wobble and solid as a rock. I have a stabilzer didn't get it put on yet.
It is usual Ford protocal (Well US automaker proto call) that if there is a problem ignore it if at all possible and just fix it on upcoming models, well maybe.
Guess I didn't think I had to research Ford. Thing I thought the most about was the engine, diesel, v10 or v8. And I looked at an 03 diesel crew cab real pretty truck with 100k on it. But I opted for the 06 never thinking Ford would screw up the suspension. Planned on keeping this truck for a long time I sure hope it can be fixed right.

This problem is only on 05-07?
So what did Ford change in 08 to correct the problem. That's what I want done if possible.
Going to the Ford dealer today, depending on how much BS I get, they may end up with an 06 F250 in their showroom.
They mount the new stableizer to a different spot on the frame. When they fixed my 05 trucks they now look just like my 08. Ford knew they had a problem by 08 so they quietly fixed the problem, and let all of find about it the hard way. These trucks are to dangerous to even be on the road until they are repaired. But ford keeps the right palms greased so nobody cares.
Thanks for the info.
I'll have to find an 08 see how the stabilizer is mounted.
Went to the local Ford dealer today. They claim they know nothing about a problem with 05-07 trucks. Said I should bring it in check the simple stuff first.
But if they know nothing about the problem what's the point.
I asked how I could find out what Ford did in 08 to correct the problem, they didn't know. Said I could try calling Ford.
I'm going to call another Ford dealer that also services heavy trucks see if they admit to a problem.
Ford made some design changes for 05 that IMO were not in the best interests of the consumer. They went to a coil front suspension to get a better ride and tighter turning radius. I don't necessarily have a problem with that. But I do have a problem with how they designed the wheel bearing and hub assembly. I think that most of the problems may start there. In 1977 Ford began using coil springs on all 4X4 F150's. I've owned a few of those trucks and never had the death wobble with any of them. The biggest difference in design is in the wheel bearing and hub area. Fast forward to today, and a company called Dyna-Trac makes a retro-fit kit for SD's that utilizes a wheel bearing and hub arrangement like the old trucks used and to the best of my knowledge their design does not have any death wobble problems. The kits aren't cheap, but they definately fix a design flaw in the 99-up SD 4X4's. I think Ford went to this design because it saved them $5 per vehicle during the assembly process and pretty much guaranteed that they would sell a lot of replacement parts.
I bet that Henry Ford is rolling over in his grave! Sam Walton too... Their grandchildren don't have the same commitment to the customer as their grandfathers. These grandchildren need a serious *** whooping!
Search around here in the SD forum. There was a letter sent out by Ford about the issue.
It is nice they sent out a letter, but this is a long way from a recall. If u are out of warranty it is probably all on you. That is the bad part of their letter notice. By the way i didn't get a letter probably because they fixed mine already while they were still under warranty. On the king ranch where they replaced the whole steering wheel this would be a very costly repair i would guess.
