This truck is fast becoming my enemy So today on the way to work I pulled into a fueling station and while waiting for the guy in front of me to move--maybe 1-11/2 minutes--truck in drive foot on brake-- the abs light starts flashing. There was no change in brake feel, so I pulled up to the pump put in park and turned her off. Get back in start it up, and it won't go into gear. ABS light still flashing. Checked all the fuses and are good. no rear brake lights either. Pull the vss conector from the rear diff. and the abs light stays on constantly. I have voltage (13.8) at the brake pedal. Pulled the connector on the pedal and have continuity when the pedal is pressed--breaks when pedal is released.
So after a tow home--what should I check now?
thanks guys for all the help. without this site my truck would always be broke down instead of every other week
Perhaps I'm out in left field, but if it won't go into gear, I'm thinking the problem is in the transmission. I think I'd be checking the connections on the tranny. If nothing else, here's a bump for somebody else that might know.
Brand new tranny and selector. To tow it I removed the cable from the tranny and manually put the trans in neutral for the tow truck. THe columns locked. It doesn't get the signal that the brakes have been pressed to allow the shifter to unlock.
I've been going through the Ford manual and I have 16 short and 1 long flash (code 16) which is sytem pass--everything working normal?????? So why is the dang thing flashing and I don't have anything on the elctrical side of the brakes system. Well back to the manual---I hate electronic stuff and all these stupid checks and ground this and measure this pin and that terminal AAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHH
I assume they put it on a roll-back truck, or towed it from the rear. If not, then I assume the tow truck driver dropped the driveshaft. When towing a vehicle with the drive wheels on the ground, you are suppose to remove the driveshaft.

on a roll back. Got it in nuetral just for the winch to drag it up
OK now when I seperate the antilock test pin thingy--no light comes on and when I ground the black/orange light there are no codes stored. Plug the connector back in and start the truck and ABS flashes code 16.
Anyone have any ideas where I should start looking checking? I am at a lost with the manual of where to begin. I really need to get my truck up and running. my 150 with the 300 is just lacking a bit (understatement) when the trailers over 10,000 l;bs
You said it's a brand new tranny? How new? Can you get ahold of the people that rebuilt it for you, and did they do the install? There are some electrical components inside the tranny, I wonder if something in there could be causing the mixup?
