There are some used 6.4 trucks for around $30000. I rode in Mike's with the Spartan 275 hp tune last weekend. It moves right along
The punch didnt feel as potent as my 150 hp tuned 6.0 but the pull was definitely there!!!
I am not sure how all those things are rated (gross hp vs on the ground) >> some tuners are competing to win the award for the biggest number.
From all the research Mike did the Spartan was the choice he made. I have been doing lots of my own reading and he made the right choice!!!
The refinement of the cab on the 2008/2009 trucks is huge >> the others really seem dated once you spend some time basking in the creature comforts.
There was something definitly wrong when you went for a ride in my truck. I have a suspicion that not only does the engine have to be warmed up to get full power to the rear wheels, but the tranny temp must be over a certain value as well. When we went for a drive and I stomped on it there was very little smoke and it didn't seem to have the pull that it did on previous occasions, but after i dropped you off i went on the highway for a bit and then tried it again and the difference was night and day. I've been doing a little experimenting since and it seems that the tranny temp has to be at aleast 130 before it will really go. Next time your in the city we'll have to go on another test run.
On a side note, fuel economy seems way better too. It usually takes me about half a tank to get to regina and this last week it took just over a quarter. I haven't hand calculated it yet but i'm sure its a big improvement, i'll keep you posted when i get it figured...
It might not be as much as you think, that part of the tank between 3/4 and 1/2 burns up pretty quick compared to the rest of the tank. I'll have to hand calculate it to figure it for sure, but my guess would be about 20-21 mpg up from about 17-18.....
