this reminds me of that pruple truck not to long ago that had a similar story, this truck is kinda like the 4 door broncos, not a ford built truck but a aftermarket convertion.

That was a Centurian Conversion. Like an early Excursion.
I figured it was along the lines of an aftermarket deal like Saleen, McLaren...etc. But I am curious to a TRUE Ford rarity? As in from the plant itself? Anyone know of any?

This is not something Ford did.
The ebay ad plainly states that these were made by Roll-Along.
The trucks were purchased at local Ford Dealers and converted.
The truck Brady is speaking of, is an F100 bumpside painted in Minnesota Vikings PURPLE.
It had faded Viking Decals that matched what is on the helmets on the front fenders.
The ebay seller claimed it was super rare, and was asking SIX FIGURES for it!
It wasn't anything Ford did, either. The truck was a mangy old rolling pile of miseries, needed darn near everything.
The only thing special about this pile was the faded decals and paint job. Everything else was stock.
Not an exact match but close enough. It's a very nice truck. One of the cleaner ones I've seen on ebay of late but it's still just a replica of a famous truck constructed of aftermarket parts. A Walker Evans fan might pay extra for it.
As far as Ford making something like this, I don't think so. The Dude, Little Red Wagons, Warlocks, etc. were more of a Dodge thing. There was an Indianapolis 500 Pace Truck in '79 and the Lightnings later on but That's all that I can think of. I think the general consensus around here was that Crewcabs tended to be the more valuable of these models.
Im chiming here as I usedto be a manufactuer of aftermarket parts and accessories of that era. I usedto own Art- Forms Design in Houston Texas . I later worked at Good Times and Excalibar Vans . Hey , we all bought Basic " trucks and converted them for several dealers . As to " Factory " rarity, common, be realistic for a moment . How rare were those trucks back in their day? Look, I sold accessories direct to the parts counters ! Those Van shops were little more than a small version of an assembly line !!!!
As for the Van shop in Anihiem, yes I beleive they were a big advertiser in Van News Magazine if my memory serves well . All you have there is a nice Ford Step side truck with a lot of Aftermarket accessories ! Hey , now that I also own aStepsideof the same vintage , mabye I should make mine like that too ! I only have 65,000 on the odometer why not ? Is it rare now , naw , just a little rusty in places . Hey , I boughtit to get me around and find parts for my 53 Panel Delivery............ See Ya on the road folks Ed Shaver
