looking for a water pump b-pass orifice plug for a 351c engine put this unit in my 53 f-100 with 5 blade flex fan and in stop and go traffic i get a little to hot checking shop manul found to happen with out this item. has anyone heard of this or know where I can get one it fits in thge block just below the t-sat and the t-sat has a hat that come down against it thanks David
I don't know if they make replacements? I searched but could not find any. Maybe your best bet is to go to the pick a part and pull one out of a junk engine? Course, I dont know how well they pop out, if at all??
Here is the plate you are looking for, correct? :
If you are looking for the thermostats for the engine, I think the most popular thermostat is the Robertshaw thermostat part number 333-192 or 333-180.
Here is a link I picked up from someone on FTE that talks about the thermostats along with other part numbers and manufacturers as well.
Also, One question I have is, is the engine newly rebuilt. If it is it will overheat in low air flow situations - stop and go traffic, and long signal lights, etc - until it has about 3500-4000 miles on the rebuild.
Try a 7 blade T-Bird fan. I think they came in both 18 and 19 inch. Get which ever one is bigger and definately use a fan shround (as twise said). The fan should only protrude about 3/4 of the way into the shroud.
Go with an electric fan. I have overheating problems in stop and go traffic. Installed the electric "s" bladed fan and now you can fly a kite behind it. Takes care of the problem and you gain back a little hp.
I have two 351C and have being running one in my mustang since 1987. The fan shroud or an electric fan with a built in fan will help the most. Make sure you also have the correct radiator cap with the right pressure and last but not least use distilled water not regular tap water.
