Mini hi torque starter problems
<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1; COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start -->Hi Guys and Gals
I have a Bendtsen AOD transmission adapter that came with
a mini high torque starter. Got it all togeather and wanted
to fire it up today. Have a 100 percent fully charged battery,
No past problems with ignition switch, All grounds are good.
Now, for the problem --- When I turn ignition key to start,
Starter turns engine over really great for two or three times,
maybe five to ten seconds. Then loud clicks.
If I wait ten minutes or so and start again the same thing
happens... I`m thinking the solenoid on the starter could
be bad but I`m not to good with electrical problems.
Anyone had any problems like this in the past?
Thanks
Gary

I would turn it over till it starts clicking, let it click a couple of times, and then get out and feel all the large wire connections. That would be at the battery, all along the wires both + and -, and the connections at the starter and the solenoid on the fender(if you are using it). A unusually warm spot would indicate a problem. If this takes over 10 minutes, then make it fail again and continue to feel all over the large wiring.

No hot wires indicating resistance--- Don'T know if this will help but when I disconnect
wire going from the starter switch to solenoid and attach it to multimeter, then turn ignition key to start, I get a constant 12 + volts. I know I`m a little slow on this stuff,
but I am still thinking I have a bad solenoid. Only downside to this is I haven`t ever heard of a solenoid doing this before (turning engine over a few times then stopping and clicking) Always been a low battery in my past history.
Anyway, thanks for your help Dave. And anything else you can think of will be greatly appreciated.

With ohmmeter I checked to see if any voltage was going through the solenoid onto the starter as I turned the starter switch. Nothing! So I assume solenoid is bad. Will take starter off in A.M. take it in and have it checked. Wondering now if I can just have a new solenoid put on this mini starter?
Thanks
