Im thinking about buying a truck for 2,200 it is a 1986 Ford F-250 6.9 Liter turbo diesel, single cab, long bed, with 4 inch lift, 35 inch 12.50 Procomp xtreme tires with good tread, interior has seen its better days for sure, but the body is in great condition , do not know exact miles the title doesn't say, shifts hard and high rpm not sure if it is the transmission, 4x4, chrome wheels, looks like no real leaks.
With a lift and larger tires and rough interior ai would check and double check everything carefully. make sure you see how it starts cold in the morning the first time if the motor has been warmed up pryor to you looking at it I would wait until the next morning to check it again.
The hard shifting could be as little as a vacuum problem ( hows the brakes).
The C6 trannys are very tough but not known for fuel mileage it seems like most have 4.10 gears under them. This is not a great combo for todays speed limits, so you need to drive it on the highway and see if you think you will be satified as gear changes can be expensive.
Money if you want exactly what it means. It could just be glow plugs or controller or could be air intrusion. neither of these are a big deal or real expensive. It could also be a slow starter bad cables or batteries also no real big deal but sounds like you are looking at paying top dollar here. I would hate to see you have to add a couple hundred or more that you are not planning on.
