A while back my mother bought a 2001 F-150 Supercrew Lariat 2wd with a 5.4L Triton v8 to tow her horse trailer. Needless to say winter in Michigan is terrible, and I had to come over many-a-time to get it unstuck from the driveway with only 2wd.
On this truck it seems that there is no rev limiter. When getting it unstuck a few times the rpms would go past 5000rpm (rather quickly, very perkly engine) Before I would realize how high they were and let off the gas.
My question is that is there/should there be any rev limiter on this truck, and what should it be at? She bought it used from a smaller dealership, so it is likely that someone may have put a tune in it at one time. It seems much more peppy than any other f-150 of this style that I have driven.
