I know it's been posted before, but just say you're on a road trip and something happens and you lose coolant. For us fix it yourself guy's & gals what coolant do you replace it with just in case between point A&B you have to put someting in other than water??
The minerals in tap water will react more quickly with heat to form solids that can cause pluggage (percipitates). They also reduce the service life of your coolant.
Zerex G05. I also carry 5 gallons of distilled water in the bed of the truck - under the tool box.
Whenever I go on a road trip, I always take with me a gallon of Ford Premium Gold coolant. For some strange reason, I never thought about the distilled water. Duhhhhh! Got to add that to my road trip kit.
I have a gallon of Gold and a gallon of distilled water in the trucks tool box, along with a set of fuel filters, oil filter, oil, Mercon SP, etc.... Also have a tow strap for my buddy's chebbie, he always gets stuck!

Can someone remind me what year Ford made the change to the Premium Gold again? I only ask because My truck came with the other stuff new and when I had the coolant flushed, I believe they used the green stuff with the diesel additive. At least, that's how the work ticket reads since I just now finally looked at it from a year ago.
Thanks Mark. I plan on doing a flush this summer some time and, needless to say, I'll be using the Gold. That's what the new Taurus X uses, so I will have some consistency there.
Where did you get the GO5? I looked for it around here but nobody carries it. I bit the bullet and paid $17 a gal at the stealership. Just for future reference...
