[quote=Evan99;7914036]Ford really needs to do something with the small truck program which is falling behind other companys [quote]

what? are you kidding? falling behind? the Ranger is by far the best priced, no nonsense, down to earth truck that i think blows the ***** off other brands.

What I think would be logical:

Give the Ranger a more conventional look
call it the NEW F100

downside, it may not attract other small truck buyers but get a few F150 owners to move down....

Ya im down with a more conventional look if that means a more Ford truck like look (ie square nosed as oposed to round and "far east" scew flathead look). Know i said it a few times but id like to see it grow to midsize, especially as it gonna be a world truck platform. (No F series for us)

I like Rangers and think they are great little trucks, but this new prototype one is ugly has hell. I hate all the new over bloated futuristic looking styles the designers think are so cool. In my opinion they are not cool at all. Alot of them just look cheap.

I do not think the Ranger should grow to a mid size truck, they need to be what they always have been for good fuel economy. I do think that Ford would be smart to make something like a Dakota though, but they shouldn't mess with the Ranger. If they made something like a Dakota they should call it the F100, or what about just F1?

Alot of companies use them for errand or delivery runners and to make them bigger makes no sense at all.

I would be all for the Reanger to grow to a mid size, to compete. They just have to give us the little turbo deisel to go with it. No matter what it looks like. We need to get the Turbo deisel to make everyone happy..

HOLY FUGLY BATMAN! the front end looks like it was ripped off a mid 90's S-10 based Isuzu Hombre, the crew cab looks like it was yanked from a commercial Isuzu cab over, and the box looks like the disabled inbred love child of the box from a colorado, and something from a late 30's pick up box...

thanks but i'd rather be shot in the face with shards of glass and rock salt.

The Global Ranger is being developed by Ford Australia. It has been tested in Europe, the US, and Australia. What it looks like is going to be a good question but it will be much wider and taller than the Current US Ranger. It will have a 3.2 Litre Diesel with 350lbs ft of torque.

Always interisting geting stuff like this. However, the Ranger pictured in the article along with the 3.0l Tdi(great motor!!!) was introduced in 2007 and already been replaced in 2009 by a (softer Toy looking :-( ) version. The upcomming T6 is to be more midsized and like previous writer said to be fitted with an optional i5 3.2Tdi making 202hp 350ft/lb motor. While thats plenty power,Nissan is said to fit their 3.0l V6 Tdi (230hp and 410 ft/lb) motor to the new Navara (Frontier)... Atleast the Ford will come with a truck pedigree as its been serving a number of years in the Euro Transit van. Just hope the T6 will look better than the fugly test mules suggests....

No Im serious. Its just not been updated like the other models and I thought it really needed a revamping. Examples: 4 four door models, Better trim levels, possible a Raptor version, Small I 4 diesel or possible 4.6L 3V, and for the small truck buyers with the big wallets maybe a King Ranch or options for all the goodies on trucks like the 150 and 250.

It took 6 months for me to respond lol.

4 door models exist, but they weren't sold in the US. They're all over Latin America, and I saw one in Minneapolis with Mexican plates just the other day.
