Tranny question
What percentage of power does an automatic transmission, such as a smaller C-4, leach from an engine. A stock tranny.
I have heard anything around 20%. Thats astonishing!!

You must remember that HP is a factor of torque and RPM. It may rob 20% of HP at 8,000 RPM; but closer to 2,500 RPM where a pickup typically cruises at, an automatic may only rob 5% of the HP. I don't know exact figures, but if you heard 20%, I would bet that is at an RPM that only a highly "souped-up" engine will see.
