I don't have one so I can't pontificate upon it. If we knew it was garbage we would tell you. We would also tell you if we knew if it was GREAT. At 5.2kw you better have a lot of battery and alternator.
it is a great winch owned since march used it everday i have a ford ranger it i have had it litteraly buried over the hood and steady sinking had to dig to the winch to get to the cable and still pulled it out of the hole like it was nothing. I would highly recommend. My brother did not trust it so i got it first now he is getting one. I also pulled a Dodge 3/4 ton out i had to back up to a tree and tie my truck off but worked awesome......... Downsides cable is a little hard to pull on better have some mucle, and u got to rev 3500 rpms if u have a 95 amp alternator but thats a given. other than that great winch.
I love the search option. I'm looking at buying one of the Recon 17,500 winches to put on my 07 F350. Anyone lately have any experience with them. So far I hear good things.
Never heard of the winch. But I learned several years back that if you cheap out on a winch, you will end up paying more longterm to rebuild or replace the cheap winch.
It's about half the cost of my Warn 12000 I have on my 03 Excursion. I'm wondering if it's made in China. Although someone said recently that Warn is now made in China. If that's true it's sad to see. It's bad enough that Ford is building a tranny plant there. More American jobs gone overseas. Recon appears to have a good rep and this winch is relatively new item that they started selling. I can't really afford a new 12000 Warn so it's either a used Warn or a new cheaper brand.

a budy got one about a year ago and we use and abuse it. with the amazon discount he got it for $405. recon lighting makes the winch he did his research, almost all the internals are the same as warn.
Not much recommendations for 4 years old topic, but few years ago I bough 8000 lb winch at Harbor Freight for like $150 and have been using it quite a bit for pulling equipment on my flatbed, including 10,000 lb forklifts.
I used double cable for that, but the winch never failed me... beside the small screw that was holding the cable end and one time when I unrolled it all , the cable come off.
