Dashboard Noise

I recently noticed random snapping sounds from my interior dash. It sounds like a stick snapping. It only happens once every 5-15 minutes. Or longer intervals. Sometimes hitting a bump can cause the sound as well. The dealership said locating the sound would be like finding a needle in a haystack. They thought it could be the dashboard expanding in the heat but the sound occurs even on cooler days. Anyone have this similar problem or have any idea what could be causing the noise? The truck is a 2008 F150 FX4.

what about your top tray was causing the sound? how did you amend the problem? i'm still having difficulty locating the source. it might be the tray or underneath... it's eminating from the center area. took it to the dealer to have it looked at and they said they can't reproduce the sound. could it be related to the heat from the cd player?

Mine usually happens from the heating of the day, expanding and contracting of the plastic. If yank on the tray alittle it will go away some.
