AOD downshift question

I have an '89 Bronco, 302 with the AOD. When I am cruising in OD and then slow down to a stop, the trans. won't downshift out of 4th until it drags the motor down to 400-500 RPM. It will then slightly jerk as it upshifts into 3rd. Also sometimes when the tranny gets up to operating temperature, I accelerate normal from a stop, 1-2 is fine, but it seems to hang in 2nd even if I let of the gas at 2500 RPM. Playing with the throttle will trick it into 3rd. What is causing these irritating problems? Fluid is fresh. Thanks

AOD downshift question

Sounds like your TV cable needs to be adjusted
I had similar problems with my 89 F150.
Dont ask me how to adjust it thou, I
took mine to a local tranny guy.
It shifts alot better but is still not
working like I think it should.

Be careful!!! Doesn't take much adjusting to ruin your tranny!!! Check out www.txchange.com for excellent advice. Good luck!

AOD downshift question

Great article, I printed it yesterday. But would this being out of adjustment cause the OD to "stick" as I slow down to a stop?

Yes the TV cable being out of adjustment
can cause the trans to hang in OD.

AOD downshift question

Thanks guys. The TV adjustment did the trick. It shifts reel smooth and OD does not drag the motor down coming to a stop anymore. It up shifts a little early so I may need to tweak it a little more.
