I was wondering what I should expect for a new transmission? It went out this weekend and the truck is now at the dealer. It is a 1994 F350 automatic with the 460. It sure went quick! I heard some noise on Friday and on Sunday it went. I guess I am trying to get a roung idea on it as I have never done this before.
Im just guessing... but if its an E40D overdrive tranny your looking around $2,500 maybe more. I tried buying one out of a salvage yard a year ago and they wanted $1,300 for a 1996 E4OD out of a wrecked truck.:-X23 Deen
You have and E4OD. Dealer price will be about $3000. An independent shop did mine for $1800 incuding the latest upgrades on a 4x4 (transfer case means extra installation labor). Ask around to find a good transmission shop if you can. Watch out for the chain that advertises on TV!
I don't know about that. I would rather go with a national chain and be able to get it taken care of if I had a problem rather than be stuck with a local shops warranty. But then again, I travel/move a lot more than most people do.
