7.3 engine removal

7.3 engine removal

my front main, rear main seal and oil pan gasket are leaking so i am taking my motor out just woundering what the little tricks or tips on taking it out or little things to look for.

Just pulled mine out two days ago. Took the front end (intercooler, rad, ac condensor, etc) off. Made life really easy.

remember there is a ground strap on the rear passanger side of the engine, I didnt know or see it the first time my engine was pulled. and as you can guess, it broke.

Fuel lines are fun also. I suggest the metal tool. You can push harder with it.

i feel stupid for asking this now but how do i get the plastic peice that supports the grille and lights? i cant exactly tell and dont want to break it.

been a while on mine and i'm not home where it's sitting to tell you for sure. But there are screws around the headlights where it connects to the trucks sheet metal I believe. don't quote me on that. been a few months since I've torn mine down.

You are correct chad. There are several 8mm bolts. I had to remove the blinkers. Its tricky getting it past the condenser lines. I unhooked my condenser line first. Made it easier.

i got everything out safely the only troubles i really came accross was the condenser and the y pipe to turbo clamp. everything took 1 full day thanx
