When I bought my F100, one of the bedside Ranger nameplates was missing. I bought a replacement from Dennis Carpenter, but now I'm puzzled about how to actually put the thing on. The bed has the right holes, but emblem just has unthreaded pegs coming out of the back so I'm not sure what kind of nuts I need to secure it. I looked at the emblem on the other side of the bed and it looks like it has some kind of square nuts, though I'm not sure how they're actually secured. I've seen the suggestion elsewhere in the forums that what I might need is a barrel nut, but that really doesn't look like what's on it right now.
It seems like a simple thing, but I'm at a loss. Any advice is much appreciated.
They are a "Push nut" friction type fastener. AKA: Barrel nut
You can get these at bodyshops and automotive paint stores that carry fasteners and trim hardware. The emblems bought original from Ford came with the fasteners.
You put the fastener into the holes on the bed, then press the emblem into place. The fastener grabs hold of the pins and keeps the emblem on.
