Adding power steering...parts?

And you didn't have to shorten your steering column?
I found a PS gearbox that says it's for a 76-79. Does the worm gear have to be replaced on all of them or just the ones out of 78 and 79 model trucks?

I have a borgeson steering shaft and I did have to cut a little off. Really easy though with this shaft. Yeah I think with the older steering setup you have to switch out the worm gear. There is a tech article on this site about it. I sent my 79 bronco steering box to the guy out in Arizona in the tech article and he rebuilt it and switched around the worm gear for me. The tech article is by Don Alves and I sent it to Pat Chrahn at Benchworksteering.com in Scottsdale, AZ 480-946-3992 it was $270 plus tax and shipping back in 2005. I just looked at my paperwork. You don't have to send it to them if you have a compentent steering box rebuilder closer to you. They should be able to do it also. They sell the whole kit too on that web site. I already had the shaft I just needed the box.
