I had a full tank of water contaminated diesel recently. Now after the shop drained the bad diesel and I refilled with clear, bright green diesel, I have a rouhg idle.
I had ran with the water/diesel mix for a while (no choice) can this damage injectors ?
Is there something I can do besides changing them ?
Don't know how much you ran, but you may be alright. Run some addititive to clean everything good and wait a while to see if it clears up.
Also I'm wondering if some air got trapped in the fuel lines somehow...that a possibility?
It is also possible there is still water in the lines somewhere, even if the old fluid was drained and new diesel was put in. I got some questionable diesel this past winter and it took several tanks to get it all out.
Maybe try some 2 stoke oil to lubricate the injectors. Water can damage the injectors, I'd replace the fuel filter and put something in the bowl to lubricate the injectors.
just ran it 60 + miles. now runs rougher at idle. smooths out at speed. seems to have adequate power at speed, but off idle is rough until you get going.
You may have damaged your injectors. I hate to say it, but I do so because I think I have the same issue. My stupid WIF light works when it feels like it, so I didn't know I was running straight water until it shut down on me. After I drained 5 gallons of water from my 55 gal tank, it took a while, but yeah, she's running a little rougher every week. You can take it to a stealership to get it diagnosed, but they'll probably quote you what they did me- $4400 for new injectors, VC gaskets, UVC harnesses, and of course labor. I told the mto put my damn truck back together, and bought a set of Swamps single shot for $1400 delivered. Put them in myself, took about a day. Oh yeah, and if you do do this yourself, either used the quater shim to hold your UVC plug together, or buy new UVC and VC harnesses, I found out the hard way LOL.
My truck is running rough after I got a bad tank of fuel a few weeks back too. I have since had #8 injector and the torque converter replaced and still no fix. Please somebody chime in on this one!!!! The mechanic is suspecting a bent valve, but it smooths out over 1000rpm.
