Backup Camera

I don't know how good they are, but Sam's club has Safety View brand backup cameras on clearance for $56! A couple of months ago they were around $100. If anybody has one of these, I would likde to know how good it is.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have the same brand as this one? I was thinking it would be invaluable when you're by yourself, up in the mountains, dark out, etc.....

My uncle and cousin have them. They work pretty good, and fool most people when they actually back up to a trailer, and put the ball right under the hitch. Before that, on their old vehicles they had ALOT of dents on their bumpers. They got theirs from sams club a few years ago. I cant say they are the exact same brand, but looking at the picture they look the same. And theirs hook to the reverse lights for power, then use a radio transmitter to get them to the screen that plugs in the cigarette outlet.

I had one of those on my other truck. Easy to install and work good. Seal the seams with super glue to keep moisture out of the lense

I tried one of these at the back of my 40 ft 5er needless to say the "wireless" signal wasnt strong enough to cover that distance. I put it at the rear license plate of my p/u and it seemed to work great. I ended up returning it because it wasn't going to do what I needed it for.
Like was mentioned before I would put silicone or something to waterproof the seams to keep moisture out of the lense.

wireless is an option, not a solution.

I have been looking to add a reverse sensor to my truck, but it will all be wired for sure.

Not sure about these cameras, but I have a Pioneer camera hooked up to my AVIC and it rocks. Really collects the light at night too, you can see stuff that is hard to see with the naked eye!

A couple guys in the Excursion forum raided their local Sam's for us Excursion owners because their Sam's reduced the price to $26 bucks.

Needless to say, we snapped them up quickly.

I need some kind of back up camera for my truck. My windows are so dark that I cant see out of the back at night. I need one that will hook up to DVD/Navigation head unit.

I've got one hooked up to my Pioneer F-700bt, and I really like it for backing up to trailers. Mine is very similar to this......TKO Audio BH-NVC18 (bhnvc18) Rearview Cameras Car Video Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

The only thing I don't like about it is that it has to mount off to the side to if you put it in the bumper like I did. I am probably going to go to a license plate frame type of camera here soon.

That is what I have. Only used it a couple times so far but has worked great so far. I need to seal mine up still though.

Jeff. That is exactly what I want. I want to mount it in the bumper so the fact that it is mounted to side wont matter to me. Thanks for the link reps sent.

No problem. I don't really have a problem with it being mounted in the bumper, just where I mounted it I had to turn the camera slightly so that the I could see the ball on my hitch. When the picture was straight, I couldn't see the ball. I guess I am just picky about it because the picture isn't perfectly straight on the screen.
