I have a 2004 FX4 and am going to wait until the new motors to trade up. One question I have for those that have already purchased an 09' is, did Ford make the A/C better?? I know there are countless threads on this topic covering the 2004's-08's. I myself love my truck but do think the A/C performance is not the greatest, even when on max and the recirc. button is engaged.

My 2009 f150 5.4 is not as good as my dodge was. It is not as cold.
On my 06 F150 and the 05 SD I had before I didn't think the A/C was as good as the old 95 F150 I had. It's adequate, but for the money I would think Ford could do a lot better.
I reckon it's more to do with the color and interior than anything. My bro in law as a 2009 expy and it struggles to get the cabin down to what i can in my 09 f150 but mine is white and his is black and he has black interior. It makes a massive difference. He even has darker tint than i do. Best way to test it is get a thermometer and see what temp it is at every seating position and vent in the truck.
What i have noticed with the 09 screw is if you have the rear vents closed that powerful fan motor will be blowing all that air through just the front vents you have open. Mine gets loud and very powerful if i have just the 4 fronts selected but thats to be expected. I dont even need to use the max air setting and it's been about 94 here the last few days.
Mine works really well. It seems to be colder than the A/C in my SD was.
I really am impressed with the climate control in this truck too. It is better at regulating the temp than any climate control I have used in a vehicle. It's as good or better than my in-law's Lexus, and puts the climate control in my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee to shame.
My '04 Expy cools great, gets ice cold. Granted, I have the rear a/c as well but even when it's off, the front still cools well, my Expy is dark red. I've read plenty of complaints about the '04-'08's having weak a/c systems, I can't imagine the Expy being all that different.
mine works great. I have the platnium with ac in the seats. very nice. I also had an 04and 97 and thought they wery both great. my son is driving the 97 with 192,000 miles and no trouble with the ac. had it charged one time.
I really haven't checked the blend door function or anything on mine, but I suspect it may be binding some because the last time I used the A/C after 10 minutes it started freezing me out of there. I do know that it does not need charged, checked that. I just cn't bring myself to bending my body to check under there. It don't bend like it used to.
My 93 F250 is so cold you can "hang meat" My 09 150 is ok but no where as cold. I know alot of it is my 93 uses R12 and the 09 uses R134a. Its still works great but takes longer to cool
