She is on crutches right now, but hopefully soon we can can be hitting the road. Sorry not the greatest pics, she is not mobile and in the garage.
I love the interior in this truck. I thought I would hate red, but its grown on me!
Here is the heart of the beast! A massive 302 cid
Is this going to be tough to sand out?
It doesn't look like it will take too much to get you back on the road.
The bed doesn't look that bed, unless that rust is coming from the inside. By the looks of the wheel well, you might want to consider just replacing the whole side, or finding a donor bed.
I plan on buying replacement metal and having a buddy weld them in for me. I am going to attempt to sand out the spotted rust on the bedside. I dont think that it is coming form the inside. Its gonna need some work, but thats why I got it.
Nice little project truck you have, I had the exact same one right down to the red/white interior. I would sandblast the rust and not sand or grind it out, that not only removes the rust but alot of the good metal around it. If you are going with complete box sides you should consider panel bonding ( glueing ) them on. It's alot faster, easier and there are no welds left to grind and fill. Last one I did took under an hour to glue and fit the panel and it's as strong as welding if done right. Enjoy your truck.
Welcome aboard, and yea nice door panels and roof liner, got the same in my 78 F150. Mine has racetrack trim, red outer/white inner paint scheme, no bottom chrome.
You are taking off the trim to clean up underneath? That large bottom trim is a real rust collector, good luck.

I am going to be removing all the exterior trim so I can start the sanding process. What is the easiest way to remove the trim without causing more damage to the body or the trim?
Being very patient, I know a good bit of it is held on with 3/8 nuts on the back side. And I 'm sure somone will chime in with the best way to release those spring clips on the rest.
Or do a search in the body forum, sorry I'm no more help than that.
First one is factory black with a silver border, but going to an all chrome grill/headlight rings xlt look with a new bumper.
But on my Red 79 Mudder is rattle can black grill, headlight rings and bumper.
The 78 (round headlights) is all rattle can and the 77 is also, I kinda like that look.
You can do one color on the inner/sunkin part of the grill and the outer and middle, raised borders a different color, sorry could not find that old pic.
Also can paint the radiator support to make it stand out, even paint the rear brake drums, if you are running a open design rim, like white spokes. (real old school idea)
