Alternator Questions???

My batteries were dead last night. Since they were not the same and differen't age I got two new batteries and put them on. Now I know my alternator is bad. Voltage is not holding at 13.8V and is getting lower over time. I need to know a few things before deciding what to do.

1. Do somebody know if the alternator is covered under the 5 year/100K warranty??
2. Any tricks on getting the serpertine belt off If I decide to get the alternator cheked or changed???
3. Fuses relays anything that could be checked related to this???

My truck is an 06 F-250 6.0L Extended cab

Thanks
Luis,

The alternator is NOT covered under the 5yr 100k warranty.

Lots of threads on removing the alternator and serpentine belt. I will post some links and other info later on if no one else has responded.

When did you buy the truck? Was it before or after July 14, 2006? (This is a warranty question)

Thank you for the response.

I took the alternator off. It was easy. I just don't get it reading the threads and finally got outside to take a look and figure it out.

I'm not the original owner. I bought it on October 2008, but I think the truck was sold on August 2006.

Why the question???

If the truck was originally sold after July 14, 2006, then you have a 5 year 60k POWERTRAIN warranty (more than just an engine warranty). You may be over 60k, but I thought I would mention it. You can tell if you have the complimentary extended warranty by getting an OASIS report.

I already go an Oasis and I do remember seeing that plan on it, but I think is only for the original owner and it can't be transfered right???

Darn it I'm the second owner

From everything I have read - All warranties are transferable.
