Theother day i was driving around and when I got back home and tried to roll up the windows on my truck the only one that went up when I hit the button was the driver side. The passenger side stayed down, I tried both buttons and nothing from either of them. the locks work on both sides and the dome light still comes on when passenger opens door. Sowhat do you guys think did the window motor die or could it have just come unplugged some how. Let me know what you think and how I should go about fixing it.
Thanks for all help.
My 91 had the same problem but it was the window would go down to far and get stuck on the bottom stroke of the motor. I could eather beat on the door panel where the motor is mounted or remove the door panel and force it to move. The stops were evidently bad or bent. I never did fix them, I just didnt roll the windows all the way down. I traded the truck off for the 97 I have now.
I would pull the door panel off and see if there's power to and from the switch going to the motor. If there's power to the window motor, the motor's probably bad. Here's a link to our power window motor section on our site if you would like to check them out.Hope this helps.
If you hear the motor run, it needs a rebuild kit. They are available from the dealership. If you don't hear it run, it's likely a wiring problem. In either case you will need to pull the door panel to fix it.
I just got both of mine to work on my 92. On the drivers side, the motor ran, but the window worked at best 10% of the time. A new bushing kit from the local parts house ($7) and a little time and it works great, on the passenger side it was stuck up. The motor made no noise, but I could see an amp draw when I would hit either switch. I pulled the motor, tore it down, cleaned it up with new grease and also greased and oiled the arm. Works great now. If I were in your shoes, I'd pull the panel and see if you can't get he window to move SOME. The problem really boiled down to the arm and gear getting bound up, and sitting that way for about 8 years before I got the truck.
Total cost to fix both windows and pretty much make them like new, $7.00...
Yeah i just had the same problem and rebuilt spare ones i had and they work great. lol now have to get rid of the spares. also like said above you can get the three little pieces at any auto center that has a Help section.

Was reading your post on my phone and got confused. My name is Kyle too, messed with my head for a few minutes.
on a lot of these older trucks to remove the motor -you will only see 1 bolt the other 2 are hidden behind the metal of the door-2 small dimples is where they are just take a 1/2 drill bit and drill through the door panel and be slow and careful~~

Spot on, had to do that on my 92. Once the holes are drilled it's a piece of cake, I also found taking the speakers out of the door gives a nice hole to stick your arm down through to hold things in place with the glass still in the door.
I have a 1991 F250 4wd regular cab and my motor just quit on me yesterday on the passenger side. The drivers side works fine. I tore apart the door and tried to put the window up manually with pressure but that was a no go. When I hit the button i do hear a click noise but nothing happens. When i was putting the window down it kind of stopped with 1/4 of the way left so i applied pressure to get it down all the way, bad idea. Now it's stuck.
Do you think i just need to rebuild the motor after I get it out? Or should I just get a new motor? This sucks cause it rained last night into my truck. I didn't think it was gonna rain so i was going to put plastic up today.... DAMN!!!!!!!!
I post about this happening to my truck as i have had to replace the motor 3 times in the 4 years I have had the truck. The conscences is that the window is binding up when the window is all the way down. I was told to pull the motor out and plug it back in to see if it is still working. I haven't done that yet as the motors I bought are still under warrenty so I just take them back and get a new one. I did notice when I pulled the last motor out that it was hard to get off the mount because the teeth on the motor were bound up on the window gear. This leavesw me to believe that the window was in fact bound up. Next time it stops working that will be the first thing I try.
Ok, so i just took it all apart and here is what i found.. Need some help from you guys.
Took the motor out, and then tried the switch to see if the motor moved at all. It does! but it only works rolling the window DOWN. When i try the UP end of the switch, it doesnt do anything, it doesn't even try to do anything.
I put a voltmeter on the two leads to the motor itself.. Guessing the up would cause a positive voltage and down would cause a negative voltage, thus making the motor go different ways according to the voltage. Or maybe it's the inverse, either way, when I hit the switch to make the window go UP, there was no voltage, when i hit the switch to make the window go DOWN, there was a voltage across the leads.
This makes me believe it's not the motor but rather the switch itself. I cleaned all the contacts between the switch and the wire harness, and still nothing.
I ohmed out the leads of the switch to see which two leads went from open circuit to closed circuit when the switch was put in a certain position. When looking at the back of the switch mechanism, when i hit the DOWN button, the middle lead of the switch, and the top right lead of the switch created a short circuit. When I hit the UP button, the middle lead and the lower left lead of the switch made a short circuit. I'm trying to understand the wiring of this but i cant quite get it. It seems as if it should be working based on what i've ohmed out.
Also to note is that the drivers side window mechanism for the passenger side window doesn't make the motor work either way, UP or DOWN.
At least at this point i was able to roll wth window up manually so it wont rain in my truck, but i'm not really sure what to do at this point...
anyone have any ideas at all? Do i need to try a new wiring harness? a new switch mechanism?
ok.. i fixed it.. there was some connectivity issues on the drivers side switch.. took that door apart and cleaned the contacts and now everything works again.. wow...
It may have been just a loose wire connection. My locks wouldn't unlock when I used the button. Then when i had to take the door panel off to replace my window motor I hit the button on something and i heard the locks unlock, so after some investigation, i found that the pink wire was loose. I ended up rolling up a peice of electrical tape and shoving it in the hole next to the wire, thus keeping it in place. I'm so glad it wasn't a need to replace the switch thing, as they are hard to come by around here, and I assume expensive to buy new.
