need help locating right tranny mount
For reference, I looked up both a 77 and a 68 on the CSK autoparts site, for 77 it lists Anchor part number 2327 for the automatic 2wd.
For the 68, it lists either 2349 for the v8 trucks (both manual and auto), and 2362 for the auto six cylinder trucks. Oddly enough, the 2327 is listed with manuals only in this application as well.
Once it's sorted out what your truck -was-, and what crossmember is in it, it should be easy to find the right mount.
No 351M/400's until 1977. No such thing as a 400M.
My problem is I bought a tranny mount from autozone and shucks and neither lined up and the bolts wouldnt go in.
Where would I be able to find the right mount that would line up I've been having bad luck.

I doubt you will find any ID numbers on the rear engine mount bracket, which some people call a crossmember.
Look on the old rubber insulator for ID numbers.
If it's a Ford part, it will be marked Ford or FoMoCo and have one or two Ford ID numbers on it, which I can identify.
If it's an autoparts store replacement, it may have ID numbers on it, which can be crossed over by NAPA.
