Welcome to FTE, you will learn a few things reading through the tech folder so you will not be a disapointedowner. You are also surrounded with a really good group of people to help you out if needed.
Lots of great info in the Tech Folder at the top of this forum. The 2 who posted before me are also very knowledgeable, along with many others, when it comes to the 6.0 and Super Duty.
Hopefully you'll go from disappointed to pleased in no time at all on FTE!
Welcome to FTE. I was also dissappointed when I found my way here. It is often the frustration of the problems we run into that forces us to start googling answers and then we find ourselves here.
I never knew that this forum existed until I was googling for answers, but I am so glad I found it. If you stick around here you will get an education on these trucks and learn what problems may occur and the preventive measures to stop them.
If you are having a problem I can almost guarantee someone on here has experienced the same and posted about it. I spend hours on here just educating myself on these vehicles. They really are good trucks and there are alot of good people on here willing to help you with any issues you may have.
thanks for the positive input. i do like the truck but ive never owned a diesel before ive had it for nine months and its been in the shop twice its there now.i have rplaced the egr ,icp, and ipr. now its throwing six more codes related to the egr, injectors oil pressure and what not. the tech use to work for a ford dealer but he is on his own now.i have the shop manuals but need to learn. im sure ill get to the point where ill be doing it my self since ive been doing gas engines myself for over 35 years . this is expensive
No problem. One point I would like to address, the 6.0L is rather technically advanced in terms of what you have been used to working on. Now do not take that as a negative remark, Ford technicians were not trained in advance before the 6.0L was released which resulted in very unhappy customers.
The tech folder is loaded with information and as you become familiar with everything you actually will see that through the years issues have been resolved that are common knowledge today. Diagnostics is the best policy instead of throwing unknown fixes that land no where in the area to solve the problem. Wiring chaffing or a field mouse in the engine can create havoc for an owner. Previous history of the vehicle is a very good source of information to know what you may deal with. You can ask for an OASIS report on your particular vehicle in the SuperDuty forum.
