I have an 08 F-250, and I think it's a job1. Just got 10k on it and I have noticed in the last oil change and in the one I'm about to do that it is making oil it seems. It's way over full according to the dipstick. I change the oil at 5000 mile intervals, and that's without towing. I'm gonna take it in to the dealer Monday, but I was wondering about those of you that have had the fuel injector seal recall work performed on your truck of whether or not you still see the oil level rising?
There is a procedure for testing for fuel in the oil contamination. It goes hand in hand with sooty pipes diagnostics. No one likes to do this procedure, because it can get quite dangerous. One part of it, you're running your hands over lines that have 22,000 psi of fuel in them. Another part, you have your head there. An abrupt fuel line failure at either one of those tests can be fatal. That essentially is why everyone has trouble getting those issues fixed. Go to your dealer and just "suggest" that your engine is constantly overful on oil.
Just take a small oil sample (4-6 oz.) and have it tested for fuel. Do it independent of the Ford dealer. If you find someplace local to test it you could get results the same day. They will find even a trace of fuel in the oil. There should be NO fuel in the oil. Don't let Ford tell you some small percentage is normal. I test my oil every time I change it, every 5K miles. Not only does it tell you if there is fuel, but it will also tell you if there is any coolant, wear metals, soot level, and the quality of your oil as it relates to viscosity, nitration, etc.
Unfortunately you have to have over a certain % before Ford will do anything. For the 6.0 it was 6% fuel in the oil. I think the 6.4 is an even higher %. I remember reading someplace that they will allow 11% so i would take an oil sample asap and request a sample bottle from blackstone labs (Blackstone Laboratories). That is who most people use.

When you say goes hand in hand are you saying the sooty pipes issue is related to making oil? I'm just curious cause my truck doenst seem to make oil but does have sooty pipes. If I jump on the throttle it show a very slight amout of smoke for a second then clears. Truck seems to run great though.
