The answer is No! (Sorry for being vague). Find a used Ex with a V10 or diesel and keep it forever. I plan on doin' a Cummins swap once my 6.0L dies - which will be in about 10 years for me!!
I agree, ther is NO replacement for our Excursions! I am not looking foreward to the day I need to replace mine, I just plan on reviving it if it ever "dies".
Just ask yourself: "Is there a replacement for my Superduty?" and you'll have your answer.
As the boys just finished saying, there's no replacement for the Excursion and it's capabilities. The Excursion is a very unique vehicle that can't be compared to a 3/4 Suburban. Period. Pick up a used Excursion instead of looking for something new or comparable.
I was looking at a 3/4 suburban for the longest time, then the Excursion made it's debut in 2000. After I test drove one, I never thought about a suburban again.
Don't worry, I'm wouldn't go bowtie. But when I told the ol' lady that she needed a vehicle that could tow the boat, she said she would take a Durango...I about kicked her to the curb then and there. Until then, I didn't even realize you couldn't get an Excursion any longer. So, there is no word on a re-introduction of the Ex or an 3/4 ton Expedition in the near future, huh? I blame Obama for this outrage.
Well maybe we can't blame him directly, but the new fuel economy directive he put out will definately hamper future SUV developments. I guess we may run out of oil in a few centuries???

Not that anyone is aware of....
They tried like hell with the Expedition EL to come close, but with the 5.4 below the hood and not much in the way of gearing options, it was a waste of time.
Had they put the V10 or a diesel below the hood, I could see the Expedition EL coming close, but it still won't hold a candle to the Mighty Excursion.
I know it's not a SUV but wouldn't a SuperDuty F350 Crewcab suit most of the people that tow? Throw a cap on the back if you need the enclosed cargo room.... just a thought.
