So how much does the Spartan cost & can I do it myself or does it require special tools? I've looked under my hood at length, I'm not eager to jump in there twisting screws & splicing lines.
Installing the tuner is plug and play under the dash. DPF delete would require the mechanical abillity to unbolt the DPF and bolt up the new pipe in the exhaust. No need to do anything under the hood, unless you want to get an intake upgrade as well.
I've got around 200 miles on my spartan setup so far; and let me tell ya, it is fricken impressive! I got the tuner, dpf/cat delete/ and intake. Installing the tunes was really simple once mick helped me through it. The exhaust pipes were'nt as easy as everyone says, and took the longest to install. Not something you'd want to do all the time if you want to take your truck back to the dealer frequently, although I'm sure it goes faster after doing it a couple times. The intake was easy to install. Now for the power. I had absolutely no idea the amount of power this would generate! Even at my lowest tune, the 150, it hauls a$$. Switch it to the 275 and it's mind blowing! Exhaust sounds awesome, and it only smokes when you really stand on it, and not much even then, except for with the 275, your fogging mosquitos with that tune (but that's half the fun!). I figure in a couple weeks I'll start calculating mpg's, but right now I can't help but stand on it everywhere I go. As far as the dpf, I never realized what a cluster F### the stock exhaust was. I can't believe these trucks can even run with that thing choking them off! To me it was worth the money just to tear that off. Trust me when I say that you won't regret spending your money on this setup one bit, and the people at spartan were EXTREMELY helpful through the whole setup, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Now I just need to hit them up for a spartan sticker!
