Has anybody ever heard of this stuff? It's a coolant additive that's supposed to prevent all those things we want to avoid in our 7.3's. The label says use in place of water. I'm just curious and I'm having a hard time finding anyone who knows what an SCA is. The guys at Advance auto pointed me at this stuff after I patiently(not) explained what cavitation does and why I needed SCAs and test strips.
I have YET to find anyone in a parts store who knows what SCAs are.
I've met a few truck owners who know what the RESULTS are of NOT knowing about them.
I had the same problem here. I didnt want to drive 45 mintues to the big truck shop to pay 18 a gallon for the cat ec1 so pep boys actually had peak heavy duty, meets cat ec-1 11 a gallon.
waaaaaay cheap, that's why I'm curious, I think it was $2 a gal. It says in climates where it never gets cold it can be used straight w/no antifreeze. If you are where it does get cold, it is supposed to be used in place of water.
Yes, I saw the run it straight unless you live in a severe enviroment where the temps go below 32 degrees, if you live in a severe enviroment mix it with any formulation of antifreeze.
My problem, with all of the reading I did, it never did say what it was.
What was kinda the clincher for me was, "SAVE THE PLANET, DON'T USE CLEAN WATER IN YOUR RADIATOR"
Even the videos were save the planet, not what was in the products or what they did better than water.
I don't put fluids in my engine if I don't know what they are.
Made in Miami, might be drainage from the urinals of those South Beach bars.
