Picked up a set of baldwin fuel filters #PF7812 . Got home and opened the box to check them out and noticed the filter that goes on the frame is different than the one I have used in the past, It just has the pleets on it like the filter on top has. Do you guys think it is a good idea to use this or should I take it back for a refund? Thanks
Take it back.... the OEM filter (made by Racor) has the extra Aqua-block media filter that makes it seperate water in the fuel.
The HFCM is a fuel filter and water seperator unit... and without the proper fuel filter.. it does not work... and if it does work... you run the risk of ruining your injectors and motor.
Buy your fuel filters at the local Int'l truck dealer. They only cost about $35.00/kit and probably are less than what you paid for your "will-fit" fuel filters (am I right)???
Use Racor, Motorcraft or Int'l - ONLY!!!!!
As well, the will-fit is a slightly different size and may/could cause fitment issues.

Can't say for sure, but I would not use it. I don't know why guys try to reinvent the wheel. Maybe you own Wix stock or something.
The filter design is patented, and cannot be duplicated by anyone but Racor, so I think we must suspect that anything made by other than Racor will be inferior.
People need to keep in mind that Racor designed and manufactured the oil and fuel filtration systems for our beloved 6.0. The filter elements are integral components to the filter housing assemblies and require proper dimensions and construction for the filtration systems to function properly. Buy anything other than Racor made fuel or oil filters (Racor, Motorcraft, IH) and you take the risk of compromising your filtration system. As the saying goes, pay a little now or a lot later. It's your choice. But why risk several thousand dollars in repairs to save a few dollars on a cheaper filter (and I mean cheaper in every sense of the word)?
However, Framm oil filters for the 6.0L are just repackaged Racor oil filters in a Framm box.
Racor makes filters for other people's lables, trouble is, there is not list of who these brands are... so many have just decided to stay with Racor made, Motorcraft or Int'l filters (oil and fuel).
I buy Motorcraft oil filters are Walmart - $19.99
I buy fuel filters from Int'l dealer for $35.00/kit. (Lower price than NAPA, Motorcraft or other sellers/re-sellers).
The days of just using any old "spin-on" oil filter or "will-fit" fuel filters are over... and that applies to owners of the new 6.4L PSD.
In the picture shown below (copied from previous post), the numbers "58230-10" and "3642" are shown on the HFCM filter. Do all acceptable filters (Racor, MtrCraft, Ford) have these numbers stamped on them?
The reason I ask is because I recently bought some fuel filter kits that were supposedly Ford oem. They came in a plain white box, and the filters look EXACTLY the same as the ones in the picture above (same color plastic, same bit of glue inconsistently showing on both ends, same water separation fabric, etc), but there are no identifiable numbers stamped on them, as is shown in this picture.
EDIT- I'm referring to BeachBumCook's second picture. For some reason I can't get it to show again.
I don't know. I could look tonight and see if mine have the numbers, or maybe someone else has some handy to check. Those numbers look like lot numbers to me, not patent numbers, but you would think all Racor would have similar if not identical lot numbers.
It sure sounds like you've got the right thing, and if I were in your shoes I think I would go get a correct filter set so I could compare them side by side. Or maybe take yours with you to a Ford counter man and compare.

Hard to say....
NAPA/WIX used to buy OEM oil filters from Racor and repackage them, then they stopped and made/sold "will-fit" oil filters and fuel filters.
Not sure if the fuel filters they are selling are OEM or not and if one gets OEM one month, it may be not be the next. Now.... if the large filter has the extra white media around the pleats, then I believe that it is an OEM/Racor made filter.
I have just lost faith with NAPA/WIX as one never knows as some locations have old stock, some filters are OEM and others are not????
