if youre lifting it 6" you will need way more then just lift coils to get the front done..unless you building a mall crawler (which i sincerely hope you are not) slap some 6" lowering leafs in there and then do 12" blocks then just remove the front driveshaft, genuine mall crawler....if you building a truck that needs to be tough do 6" rear lift springs and then you can remove the factory rear blocks to level if you want, this will also help with axle wrap then you will likely need extended brake lines all around ext. rad arms and/or drop rad arm brackets but id advise against the drop brackets, and you might have to do something with your steering and trac bar setup to compensate for the height

ok. i understand that i will have to fab up some stuff after the springs are on the front. but what about the rear? i keep seeing people talk about these sky shackle drop kits. if i buy this will it lift the rear of the truck without having to get lift springs or anythin? sorry, i know noobs always ask these kinda questions!

im not too sure on the shackle flip kits try google to get some more info on them and like i said if you want to keep the stock stance get 6" of rear lift but if you want to level it go with 4" on the rear...if you pull lots of heavier loads or trailers that sag the rear end i advise against leveling it but other than that its a good idea

lift springs are expensive but they are the best ways to do it there are cheaper alternatives I.E. shackle flips, ad a leafs and once again i advise against adding blocks

Shackle flip and add-a-leafs in the rear seem to be the way everyone goes on here. Much cheaper than re-arched springs. That's what I've been planning on doing on my truck (for way too long). Guess it all depends on your budget. Flip the rear hanger out, and pick up a spring pack from the junkyard.

its a mud truck. so i wont be towing really anythin but maybe a 4 wheeler or somethin in the back. so i think i am gunna look more into the shackle flip from sky. would i need to get a different set of springs like from the junk yard or could i keep the same springs?

I don't know how much drop the sky kits give you (should say on their website). My buddy had it on his Blazer, and it was a nice setup. If the sky hangers don't give you enough lift to even it out, pick up an extra leaf pack at the junkyard and some new center pins and add a couple. Cheaper than buying re-arched springs, and a better than using blocks. I'm surprised more folks haven't chimed in, but if you search around in the off road section of the forums, you'll find all kinds of info and pics.

Taylor has you going the right direction. You can achieve a lot with just a shackle flip. It willl work better than the stock design for your application. You can run your stock leafs are change them, its up to you. Taylor suggested that you can even upgrade your existing ones which is a great option. You will undoubtedly have to tune your suspension anyway, so adding some leafs may or may not be necessary anyway.

Dont believe all of the hype about limited weight capacities and shackle flips. This is some time ago when I was dialing in my shackle flip. I used bone stock 1500 silverado springs then, and along with the shackle flip i could town anything I wanted.

Itis not uncommon for this truck to tow a 1700 lb. trailer with another full size truck on top. Many times it has drug around 6k lb trucks on top of the trialer on the freeway, at freeway speeds and with boggers.
Never has a shackle failed, and never has this truck been limited in capacity by the compression style shackle. I just dont buy it being a limiting factor:
