Thanks again to all who have responded. When I went to work this morning I lifted the hood. We had a cool morning here in Virginia, something I have heard or read made me feel the alternator and it felt warm to the touch. Would this mean the alt. is bad, bad diodes. I am going to check it again tommorrow morning. I guess that I should have mentioned that I have two new batterys and they have been drained once over a two day period without running the truck. Thanks again to everyone, Sleepe

If the alt feels warm to the touch after sitting all night its is drawing current, a bad diode will do this. Time for a new alternator.

sounds like you got it solved, i just wanted to share with everyone another situation i had that is similar. my 'vette was not holding a charge (i thought) needed jumping after a few days too. Well, turned out the be the starter. never saw that before, usually they just stop working all together. this one worked but only if there was a full charge.
