I am planning on rebuilding one of my trucks starting this fall. However it kind of all will fall apart if I can not find a better frame. I live in wonderful North East Ohio and the road crew here uses salt in the winter like its the only thing they can use. I have two trucks here and plan on using all the good parts off both truck to make one. However one is 4x4 the other is 4x2 and the 4x4 frame is in very poor shape. I would like to find a good solid and pretty clean as far as rust and that goes.
So I'm looking for a company that would not only have a frame for a 1991 F250 4x4 standard cab 8 foot bed, but would be able to get it to me? I do not have a truck right now that I can drive over a great distance to pick it up with a trailer.
start searching junk yards. the frames are the same from 80-91. Or you can use a 92-97 frame as well, you will just need to do some moddification to the frame horns
Is there a difference between 150 and 250 frame? I may have a 150 frame soon. Supposed to try to pick up my parts truck this weekend. Don't know how long it will take me to strip it down. You probably wouldn't want to come all the way to VA to get it though.
Is there a difference between 150 and 250 frame? .
the F150 is a coil spring front suspension and the F250-350 are leaf spring... the difference being in the location of the spring perch and shackle mounts... plus the F150 and light duty 250 frames are a bit lighter, I think the F250hd and F350 are heavier gauge steel and maybe heavier x-members... or so I've been told.
If you can find your way out to the west, there are thousands of solid, rust-free truck frames sent to the shredder every year. There are simply too many of them to save.
An F-250 frame is much stronger than an F-150 frame. If you plan on using your 3/4 ton truck like a 3/4 ton truck, you will be shopping for another frame in a few years.
just go to a junk yard. i went to one near my house last lear in search of a frame and there were over 100 ford truck frames alone. I paid 400 for a reg cab long bed 4x4 f250/350 frame
I have been in local junk yards here. Problem here is I find the same rusted junk I have have at home. I am trying to find one that's a bit cleaner and lot more rust free.
