Well, I don't know what to tell you. Does the ring gear have 'Dana' or 'Spicer' machine stamped around the outer edge along with the ring gear tooth count and ratio?

Hmmmm, my quess is that the Cheby part is from a 10-bolt corporate axle and not a Dana axle. The 10-bolts are VERY close to the Dana-44 in size in most respects. The fact that one says 'Dana' and the other doesn't should be a clue.
Anyway. that's my .02 cents.

Sorry to hear about that. I thought you had disassembled a Cheby D-44 and not gotten a R&P from E-bay. Sounds like the guy selling it either flat out lied or simply doesn't know how to tell them apart.
