I mean no offense to anyone that bought one, but I can't think of a more worthless thing to waste money on. Especially for something that is less strong and more prone to any breakage than the originial thin stamped steel cover.
We all scoff and laugh at those things...
Then again, no one wants everyone's truck to be the same.
I'd be a bit worried it says that it is polycarbonate iirc that is plexiglass. If it were Lexan now that would be a different story.
Polycarbonate is not the same as plexiglass. Lexan is polycarb, acrylic is plexiglass. Polycarb is very flexible in thin sheets and is a component in bullet proof glass. Plexiglass will break just like glass (where the name comes from) if you bend it far enough, not to mention it burns pretty nicely.

Thanks fopr the refresher Trevor I used to deal with a lot of that when I worked for Titleist. NO so much anymore.
I hear your Ron, I don't off road my truck either, but some do. Are you going to be the ginny-pig on this one?
no im not getting one..just found it and thought id post it up...149 for a cover is a bit much for me..
i do like the valve cover idea..that was my first thought when i see the diff cover..
if the cover stays black with oil..then i think it would be a sighn to change it out wouldnt it?? good clean oil will settle and slide off of the glass.....durty oil would cling to it..

I think you are right with the oil change thing, when it turns black, change the oil. But that would work for the first oil change after installing the clear VC. The only thing that I thinks works being clear, is the degaser bottle on top of the rad. . Wouldn't it be nice to have a clear block and heads? Look, injector #2 is not putting out oil.
I got mine from Ed (FTE/Parts Guy), and went out and bought SS bolts. Or you can get it from Diesel Manor and get it with bolts. Mine was $55 to my door plus bolts/washers (~$20), from Diesel Manor it's $78 plus shipping with non-stainless bolts. Your call.
I used 1 1/2" bolts, and had to double-washer a few of them to keep 'em from bottoming out before they were tight. 1 1/4" would be best, but neither HD or Lowes had them in that size. 1" seemed a bit too short, so I with with the longer ones and added SS flat washers for spacers. Worked well!
