The Poweress...
ok. im looking at rebuilding my 76 302. the parts i have picked out so far are as follows: Scat 347 stroker kit, .030 bore dish pistons (9.0:1 compression w/ 64cc heads), 3.400 stroke, 5.400 rods; Dart Iron Eagle top end kit with 64cc combustion chambers, 2.02/1.60 intake/exhaust valves, 180cc intake port, 1.437 double valve springs; FAST four barrel 4150 high flow TBI EFI; MSD ingnition;and POSSIBLY a Weiand 174 blower. i would like to know what cam and valvetrain to use. i want the power band to come in at 3000 and keep pulling to 7000 rpms and to have a mean idle. help?

I am doing a build now on my 428 pi.I am going through the same thing as far as cam selection.I have been a mechanic now for 20 years but I do not specialize in performance. Some things to consider;I would use a build that someone else has done that works as a starting off point whether a magazine or friend who has a build that runs great. There is allot of companies out there that are willing to share their knowledge for a fee, flatlander performance for example. You send them the gear ratio, compression, what do you want to do,etc and they recommend a cam grind all for 35 bucks refundable if you buy a cam from them.I would get several opinions and then average them out.The cam is the brains of the plant,it will make or break a build.one other thing,Are you planning on running pump gas?

i am planning on running pump gas. hence the use of the 9:1 compression ratio. E10 87 is the most available and cheapest gas in my area, so thats what i plan to use. but there are occasions that i will have to run 85. im thinkin to build a little monster motor that can accept a blower later on.
