How many are working on their rigs and how many are using them this weekend? I guess a better question would be who blooded a knuckle or two and who sat back and admired what they have accomplished so far?
I pulled out the spare tank and drained the very old gas (smelled funny) and hooked her back up. I have a 4 day weekend next week to take the family camping.
I worked on stripping apart my 79 F150 parts truck. I am using a lot of the parts for my 75 truck including the 205 tc. I put my 79 seat belts on ebay and took out all the A/C stuff for ebay later. Don't need it on my other truck. I plan on cleaning up the frame on the 79, still has the orginal undercoating on it by the way it looks and build it up for a frame off resto and putting the best parts I have on it. That was today. But am going south to visit with family and hear my dads name read at the cemetary for the veterans, of which I did 5 years myself but did not give the biggest sacrifice. I took the whole week off for vacation.
Grinding all the rust off the underside of my 77(which is ALOT) then coating it with sealer. So far I've had the wire wheel throw 3 wires out at like Mach 3 and stick about 1/2" into my thigh. Ouch
Spent half of saturday detailing so i could take it out crusing for the night. It rained so it stayed in the garage. Now i can spend the week pulling things apart, cleaning, fixing and putting back together ready to cruise next weekend
I took all next week off of work just to do some work to the truck and get some things done around the house.
Still to come this weekeend:
- Weld in new floor pan on the passenger side
- Install my 1973 grill
- Get new carpet and install
- Get seat cover and install
It's amazing what tires and wheels do for a truck. Looks good 77. I also have a 78 F350 super 460 and it will get up and go.
I started cleaning the inside of the truck and thought I would clean out the air vents. I'm glad that I did. Here's what I got out.
Them are some piles (right & left side). The PO always parked under a tree and the cowl was full.
I also got the E-brake fixed. There was a broken spring that would hold a lever down when you put the brake on. I rebent the spring and it works.
Hauled a yard of topsoil with my F150. Still have about half of it in the truck. Once I get the "honey-do's" done, I am going to continue on the body work tomorrow.
I took the gardenhose out with a spray nozzle and spayed into it. The leaves will go down to where your fresh air vents are. There's a platform with a hole in it to let the water go on down to the bottom of the fender If you get under the truck and look at where the fender bolts up you should have 2 drains for the dirt and water to run out. You can open your door and look in at your fender at the bottom. I had alot of dirt and debri in there before I started with the cowl. I used a vaccuum to get it out before the water was turned on. You'll have to take off your e-brake lever to get the left air vent off. You'll want to get all the stuff out of them. I used antiseize on the screws and the 2 bolts that go threw the firewall for the e-brake and air vent.
I'm going to to drive Burt around and shine the chrome... Also, being the obsessive compulsive person I am, I'm probably going to lay under him and just stare up a the mechanics just for fun....with a rag in my hand to wipe the occasional oil drip, grease spot off.... I do that sometimes..
Dak
Sounds like a relaxing time Burt. I took mine down to the car wash to get off all the oil, grim, and dirt under the hood so that I can see what it is I'm working on. I really don't like a filthy rig. It looks much better but I should've spent a few more dollars and got more off. Now you can read Power by ford on the valve covers at least.
Finally got the front clip and the cab off and put them in the resting place for the summer (hopefully not longer). Pushed chassis in the shop and took lots of pictures before the teardown begins.
I got the engine, trans and t-case unbolted and ready to lift out, I began getting the cherry picker set-up, but the lonely beer in the fridge started calling my name. I sat on the couch to enjoy a few and here I still sit! HEY........it happens.
I will be gutting the frame basically bare in the next week or two, sandblasting it and cleaning up the front/rear axles etc.
